Are You Ready for Your Own Outlander Adventure?

Step into another world — a world of love, loyalty, and legend.
We’ll spirit you away through time and place as we journey to some of the most unforgettable Outlander filming locations. Along the way, we’ll weave together the stories of history and fiction — and, of course, share tales from behind the camera and life on set.

Fort William — The Shadow of Black Jack Randall

(Blackness Castle)

Standing sentinel over the Firth of Forth, this imposing 15th-century fortress served as the grim headquarters of Black Jack Randall. Its cold stone walls set the stage for one of Outlander’s most heart-wrenching moments — Jamie Fraser’s brutal incarceration. Here, history and emotion merge in haunting silence.

Wentworth Prison — Jamie’s Captivity

(Linlithgow Palace)

Once a royal pleasure palace and the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, Linlithgow Palace now stands as one of Outlander’s most unforgettable locations. You’ll recognise the grand gates and echoing corridors as those where Jamie was imprisoned. The courtyard fountain, still flowing today, adds a poignant contrast to the dark scenes filmed within.

Lunch Stop — The Old Mill at Preston Mill

(Preston Mill, East Linton)

A gem of Scottish heritage, Preston Mill’s distinctive twisted roof makes it instantly recognisable — it’s here that Jamie famously waded into the river to fix the water wheel. (If you’re lucky, our guide John might just offer a spirited re-enactment!) With its rustic charm and peaceful surroundings, this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a well-earned lunch.

Cranesmuir — The Village of Secrets and Sorcery

(Culross, Fife)

Step into the cobbled streets of Culross — transformed on screen into the village of Cranesmuir. This picture-perfect coastal town is where Jamie saved a young boy from a brutal punishment and where Claire and Geillis faced the fury of witchcraft accusations. Its golden-stone lanes and whitewashed cottages seem untouched by time, every corner whispering of Outlander’s magic.
